Help for EuroTranslator 8

Solutions

The program doesn't start up in every user account
The user installing the program must have Administrator (System supervisor) rights. Other users must have reading and writing rights to the folder in which EuroTranslator is located (generally "C:\Program Files\Eurotranslator 7.0\" or "C:\Program Files\Eurotranslator 6.4\" depending on whether your program version is 7.0 or 6.4).

EuroTranslator is unbearably slow
Change the settings of your anti-virus program so that it does not check file db1.mdb or files ending in .ff2 in the EuroTranslator installation folder.
If your anti-virus program is F-Secure and you have installed EuroTranslator in the default folder, do as follows:
1. Click on the F-Secure icon (shows a sword) in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen.
2. Select the option which reads "Real-Time Protection". Place a mark against "Exclude objects" and click on "Select".
3. In "Add" write: "C:\Program Files\Eurotranslator 7.0\db1.mdb" (without quotation marks) and click on "Add". A row will appear at "Excluded objects". Now in place of the previous text at "Add" write "C:\Program Files\Eurotranslator 7.0\*.ff2" and click on "Add". Now add the line "C:\Program Files\Eurotranslator 7.0\data\*.ff2" in the same way as the others. After this press "OK" twice.
Now the anti-virus program will no longer check the vocabulary of the dictionary program and this will work faster. In the case of EuroTranslator 6.4 the final part of the directory link is "Eurotranslator 6.4" instead of "Eurotranslator 7.0".
When using ET 6.4 or the ET 7.0 version without the raw translator you do not have to add rows which end in "ff2".

EuroTranslator does not work in my old Windows system
For EuroTranslator to work properly, Service Pack 4 or a newer Service Pack update package must be installed in computers using Windows NT 4.0. Windows 98 must have the year 2000 update installed. The updates are available from Microsoft's Windows Update web pages.
With Windows XP, ME, 2000 and 98 SE operating systems no compatibility problems have been noticed, regardless of degree of update.
